Placing radar requires a footprint large enough to fit the radar unit, its shelter and support gear, plus space for personnel to move, maintain, and access the site, all while leaving enough clearance for the antenna to rotate and scan without hitting obstacles. A 30 by 35 meter area provides a practical envelope that accommodates the equipment, a generator and cabling, walkways, and vehicle access, while still offering a buffer around the antenna for unobstructed operation and camouflage or security measures. Areas smaller than this don’t leave adequate room for the infrastructure and safe movement, while larger areas are simply beyond the minimum needed. So, 30 x 35 meters is the minimum workable size.
